Bending Through Adversity, Standing Resilient Through Time - "Ayiti Pap Peri"

Cassandre Thrasybule is a filmmaker, director, producer, author and lecturer born and raised in Port-au-Prince, the capital of the beautiful island of Haiti. Her work has focused primarily on documentaries and publications focusing on the lives, culture and history of Haitians inside and outside the country. Cassandre is the founder and executive director of Human Interaction Foundation, a non-profit organization that produces documentary films to educate, raise awareness and give voice to the voiceless.

Over the past two decades, Cassandre has directed dozens of projects, including “Casseures: Our Families Between Haiti and Elsewhere,” “The Exiles from Within. Cassures II.” and “Ayiti Pap Peri.” Cassandre’s productions on major societal issues have been recognized, among others, by the 2019 Médaille d’Étain from the Académie des Arts, Sciences et Lettres, in Paris, France. In 2021, Cassandre was the recipient of the Best Human Rights Documentary Award at the Montreal Film Festival for the documentary film “The Exiles from Within. Cassures II.” Cassandre also won the Best Director Award, also in 2021, at the Tagore International Film Festival in India, for the documentary film “The Exiles from Within. Cassures II.”

In 2024, the documentary film received the Best Producer Award from the New York Independent Cinema Wards. In 2024, Ayiti Pap Peri received the Best Producer Award from the Cannes Arts Festival.
