Why this campaign exists

The 11th Department is building a long-term community infrastructure—not just a website. We’re creating a place where people can organize by Region, work by Sector, and stay connected to what’s happening in Haiti’s 10 Departments—with clear pathways to launch, fund, and deliver real projects.

This campaign supports the “engine room” of the mission: the platform and the coordination work that keeps projects organized, credible, and moving.

What your support makes possible

Your donation helps us:

  • Keep the platform secure, stable, and accessible (hosting, maintenance, reliability)

  • Improve tools members use every day (profiles, communities, directories, media, events, ecosystems)

  • Support coordination and communication so projects don’t stall

  • Maintain community trust through moderation, structure, and standards

  • Publish updates and strengthen transparency for project tracking

Why “platform support” matters

Most community projects fail because people can’t stay organized—or because progress becomes unclear. The platform solves that by giving members a shared workspace to:

  • identify needs in communities and Haiti’s Departments

  • shape ideas into proposals inside Sectors

  • recruit volunteers and partners

  • track milestones, updates, and outcomes publicly (when applicable)

What funds will be used for

Funds received will be used for:

  • Platform operations (hosting, backups, security, maintenance)

  • Development and improvements (features, performance, usability)

  • Community moderation and support (quality, safety, trust)

  • Communications and coordination (organizing working groups and updates)

  • Tools for projects and organizations (pages, events, documents, media, directories)

  • Transparency infrastructure (milestones, updates, reporting workflows)

Your contribution helps keep the 11th Department platform running and improving—so members can connect, organize, and move projects forward across Diaspora Regions and Haiti’s 10 Departments.

Milestone 1 — $5,000: Keep the Platform Stable

Covers core operations so the platform stays reliable and accessible:

  • hosting + uptime

  • backups + security monitoring

  • core maintenance and bug fixes

 

Milestone 2 — $15,000: Improve Community Tools + Coordination

Expands capacity and improves the experience members rely on:

  • better usability and performance improvements

  • stronger content organization (Regions, Sectors, Haiti’s Departments)

  • improved moderation and support workflows

 

Milestone 3 — $25,000: Expand Project Transparency + Organization Tools

Builds the foundation for stronger accountability and execution:

  • clearer project updates and milestone tracking (platform-wide)

  • improved tools for nonprofits/businesses/partners (pages, events, media, directory)

  • public-facing reporting habits: outcomes + lessons learned (when applicable)
